Groenendael Effendi von der Holzheimer Rehtraenke

Welcome to my page, dear visitor! I’m pleased that you are interested in groenendael and in me. Let me introduce myself: My name is “Effendi”, to be precise “Effendi von der Holzheimer Rehtraenke”. While my first name tends to show my international forefathers, the kennel name is a very down-to-earth one from Franconia … My mother actually comes from Franconia, Vega von Frankental, my father is a temperamental Hungarian, s.r. Multi-Champion Greco Comme un Rêve Noir. It seems, that I am very similar to him, as his breeder, Annamária Vig, found me among hundred other groenendael dogs, not knowing me or my master or mistress before. Suddenly she stood in front of us and said “It must be you, Effendi!” That was a surprise!

Effendi’s father: Groenendael s.r. Multi-Ch. Greco Comme un Rêve Noir

I was very sorry not to meet my father, Greco. After only two matings in Germany and a couple of others in Hungary, Greco was brought to Sweden. There, an internationally well-reputated dog judge, Anders Lyrholm, fell so deep in love with Greco, his look and character, that he did everything he could to get Greco. Greco was the one and only, perfect groenendael to him. Greco lived close to Anders every day and he took him everywhere. Greco won a myriad of titles, worked in obediance and had about 135 offsprings in total. His sons and daughters live in Europe, the U.S. and Australia and are champions themselves or founded famous kennels. Greco was an absolutely exceptional dog.
When Anders died, Greco began to cry, though some kilometers away. Greco grieved for a long, long time, though Anders widow Carin did what she could to give him back high spirits.

Effendi’s mother: Groenendael Vega von Frankental

My mother, Vega von Frankental, comes from one of the oldest German kennels, which is still active after more than 30 years. Myself, I was born in the kennel of Barbara Poesl in Nuernberg, called “Von der Holzheimer Rehtraenke”. I have four brothers, Enrico, Elvis, Eyck, Etzel and one sister, Eva-Gina. Barbara had a proven track record as very successful breeder, after only some years. She was the one, who discovered Greco and his potential, before Greco’s career really took off.

Our E-litter “Von der Holzheimer Rehtraenke”

By this combination of my mother and my father, the World Chanpion, Falk von Nauenhof is in our line of ancestry for three times. We ourselves, have some nice show awards and titles, too. My brother Elvis has got the title “Austrian Champion” for two times and is a stud male; my brother Enrico has become “Best Puppy” at his first show, and me, Effendi, I have got the title Youth Champion and later a BOB and some CACs and CACIBs for the German championship. It was a pitty, that my breeder, Barbara Poesl died very early and my mother, my sister, Prisca de la Douce Plaine, Uzara von Frankental and Caprice di Scottatura were separated. Some years later I heard, that my sister lived a sad live at the new home.

Health and Longevity in our line of ancestry

What I am especially proud of: My siblings and me are of a line of ancestry with a strong health and longevity. There are no genetic diseases. My grandpa, Ceres Jonas, has become more than 16 years. This is my target, too!
